Varley Red Top battery charger. This 3 stage charger has been developed especially for and alongside the superb range of Varley racing batteries. A superb addition to the workshop and a must to help ensure the correct conditioning, maintainance and ultimately the lifespan of your Varley battery. It's an 8 amp charger and as the name suggests, works in 3 main stages:
The 3 Stages of Charging
- Constant Current Stage - The first stage is to return the bulk of the depleted power back into the battery with a high current charge.
- Constant Voltage Stage - This second stage allows the battery cells to balance out and equalise, by gradually reducing the current over a perioid of time.
- Trickle Charge Stage - The third and final stage sees the supply of a small maintenance current or trickle charge to finish off the process.
Note: At this point the battery could be left attached to the charger indefinitely, without any risk of damage to the battery.
The charger itself is housed in a rugged aluminium housing, with a 3 stage LED lamp status display indicator. As an example of it's charging capability, it can recharge a Red Top 15 battery from o% back to 95% charged in just under 2 hours and due to it's wide input voltage capabilities, it can be used with suitable adaptors in countries with differing mains voltages without any problem at all.
